This course introduces safety concerns for personnel performing operation and maintenance work in electric transmission and distribution systems.

The information contained in this handbook is directed to the safety concerns of operators, electricians, and supervisors working daily in the operation and maintenance of an electrical transmission and distribution systems. More specifically, general and electrical hazards applying to de-energized and energized line work are reviewed. Different worker concerns dealing with safe and unsafe practices are also covered in specific hazards areas such as substations, overhead lines, underground cables, and shore-to-ship connections.
